Answered Prayer - What It Is & the Different Kinds

(Book Excerpt from “The Power of Divine: A Healer’s Guide”)

Prayer is communication (a two-way dialog) with the Absolute. Petitionary prayer is for oneself - intercessory prayer is the connecting of the Healing Force with the one who needs the healing.

Interceding or supplicating prayer is where you are communicating in behalf of someone else - usually these prayers are in request of something. “Intercessory” comes from the Latin word inter, “between,” and cedere, “to go.”

So intercessory prayer is “going in between,” standing in the gap, as it were, mediation between the two. This is why the person receiving may not have the faith to be healed, and yet a miracle may still occur, because the intercessory does! We see the precedent set of human intercession in the scriptures, such as Moses praying for healing in behalf of his leprous sister Miriam, and praying to stop the venomous snakes from killing the Israelites (Numbers 12:10-13; 21:7)

Prayer is not the “power of positive thinking” nor “wishful thinking.” Prayer is not just for special occasions or illness. There are no ill effects or contraindications with prayer. Prayer cannot be overdosed - you never have to worry if you are sending too much! Is your mind of Self Will in touch with the God Will of the greater mind? Visualize the outcome you want (without telling the Almighty what to do) and consider this outcome as already having been accomplished. Only in this way are you truly out of the physical brain/mind-set, of “seeing is believing.” Visualization helps bridge the gap.

But, believing is the key. Knowing is even better! How strong do you believe/know God? See in your mind’s eye that which you pray for already existing in spiritual form. Let God use the abilities he gave you to make it more real for you; use your thoughts as a “touchstone” for the Power to flow without restraint, as you see people the way God sees his children as whole and totally protected and loved. Jesus said: “Have faith in God… therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.” (Mark 11:24) Powerful words indeed! END
